What is boiling in the pot for the garden

We are excited to announce that Wilson Garden has been accepted in the prestigious Anderson Twp Garden Tour on June 3rd from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The Anderson Township Farmers market has also invited us to display pictures of our garden to raise awareness and to sell seeds for profit at the market.

FlowerPower fundraiser results are in.  We raised nearly $150 for the garden! Thanks to all the Wilson families who participated.

Wilson Garden 2012 Kick Off !

Wilson Garden Committee and volunteers worked hard during the winter. Thanks to the PTA funding, some fundraiser money and the hard work and dedication of the volunteers now the garden has an improved layout, new nutritious soil, weed proof walkways, an irrigation system and access to a brand new outdoor faucet which will make watering much easier.
On the week of Earth Day our students (K, 1st, 2nd, 4th graders) started the garden activity seeding radishes, lettuce, carrots, and more. We hope the weather will cooperate and we will have a nice crop ready to be harvested before school ends.

During difficult times home gardens flourished in USA

Do not pay attention to the part displaying the pesticide that at that time was probably DDT. There are other organic ways to take care of pests. But notice how they took care of the garden without the use of fuel powered machines. They did have horses, though.

In the 70's during the oil embargo, there was also a TV show called "Victory Gardens" produced by WGBH and distributed by PBS.

PBS is still broadcasting the Victory Garden Show with also environmental advices. For more information go to http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/victorygarden/index.html.
